Welcome to
Camfield Place
A historic estate in Hertfordshire, home to literary legends

The Camfield Experience
Nestled in a quiet oasis just 17 miles from Central London, Camfield has a unique literary history being the beloved home of both Beatrix Potter and the Queen of Romance, Dame Barbara Cartland.

The family of Barbara Cartland have lived at Camfield for over 70 years, preserving the history, ambiance and special, romantic heritage. Situated in rolling hills, park and woodland, Camfield transports you back to a bygone era. The house itself was rebuilt in the Italianate style by the Grandfather of Beatrix Potter over 150 years ago and still retains many of its original features.
We warmly welcome you to come and be part of this special place and experience the grandeur, romance and spectacular vistas of our quiet sanctuary.
As a family-run estate, we can offer exclusive access to our facilities. Whether you are looking for a truly romantic setting for your wedding, or are a location manager seeking a unique location with multiple possibilities, contact us with your requirements.

Every flower, every tree, every stone at Camfield holds a story waiting to be discovered.
